Come and enjoy a great lineup, featuring a keynote from Sébastien Deguy with some exciting news, and talks with Substance Masters Nikola Damjanov from Nordeus Game, award-winning animation studio Aardman Nathan Love, and others.

For this very special edition, we are also happy to include a special screening and panel discussion on the newly released Terminator: Dark Fate. Discover on the big screen the magic of Substance, and see how it has been used for some of the special effects of the movie. Of course, this amazing day wouldn’t be a Substance Day without a fun after-party. From 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., you will mingle with the Substance team, the speakers, and the Substance community.

9:00am – Keynote with Sébastien Deguy, Vice President 3D & AR, Adobe and Jeremie Noguer, Principal Product Manager – Entertainment, Adobe

10:15am – How to create high quality materials in a few clicks with Substance Alchemist with Nikola Damjanov, Lead Artist at Nordeus Game. Nikola is from the game industry and has been using Substance Alchemist for more than a year as a beta tester. He even decided to embark on a personal journey creating 100 materials in 100 days. Why did he decide to do this crazy challenge? Because Substance Alchemist is the perfect tool to create material from existing ones and from a photo or a moodboard in a few clicks and make full collections. Nikola will share his experience: how does he work his inspirations, what did he learn creating materials with Substance Alchemist and how important is self-improvement. He will share very useful tips and tricks for you to get started with material creation

11:30am – Substance Painter in the Big Apple: How a small production studio used Substance to flourish among the hustle and bustle with Elizabeth Ku-Herrero: Former CG Lead and Freelance CG Modeler & Look Development Artist and Jin Fang Jiang, CG Artist & Lighting Lead at Nathan Love. In the bustling city of New York, commercial work can demand a lot under tight deadlines and budgets. Nathan Love is a small Design & Animation Production Studio that specializes in cartoony and fun commercials from taking over all the screens in Time Square to rocking the Super Bowl! Join Elizabeth Ku-Herrero and Jin Fang Jiang, their internal CG Look Development Team, as they take you on a journey through four different commercials, Nickelodeon, Sprite, Chobani, and Vitamin Water, and how their relationship with Substance evolved through each.

12:35pm – A journey into material scanning with Jérôme Derel, Head of Digital Material for Adobe – Anthony Salvi, Principal Product Manager for Adobe and guest Joshua St. John, Creators, Z by HP. They will take you into a journey from personal to professional material scanning initiatives. What motivated them? What constraints did they have to face? What is the status of their project today? Learn all about it in this inspirational talk.

2:30pm – Terminator screening and panel discussion. Join Adobe for a special screening and panel discussion of Terminator: Dark Fate and witness the heart-pumping thrills and epic visual effects of the newest film in the iconic franchise. After the screening, there will be a live panel discussion featuring the film’s director Tim Miller and the post-production team and VFX editor about how Adobe Creative Cloud (including Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Mixamo and Substance by Adobe ) helped them achieve their creative and technical goals. The featured panelists are Tim Miller, Director, Julian Clarke, ACE – Editor, Matt Carson, Associate Editor, Jon Carr, Visual Effects Editor and moderator: Meagan Keane from Adobe.
