Kick-off the day with the Substance team to learn what’s new and coming up in the world of Substance, and in 3D overall at Adobe. EXPLORE THE ENVIRONMENT AND MATERIAL CREATION OF CONTROL
Speaker: Miro Vesterinen, Senior Environment Artist, Remedy Entertainment
Take a look into the environment and material creation workflows of the award-winning game Control.
Miro will discuss Remedy Entertainment’s approach to tiling materials and creating the brutalist architecture of the Oldest House. He will also share how materials and lighting played a crucial part in the development of Control.

CREATING A FANTASY BATTLEFIELD MATERIAL COLLECTION WITH
Speaker: Enrico Tammekänd, Senior Environment Artist, Counterplay Games
Delve into the processes required to populate fabled realms with terrifying wyrms or dire necromancers. Enrico Tammekänd will detail how he crafted a signature collection of materials common to fantasy worlds for Substance Source. Discover how Enrico leveraged the power of Substance Designer to define materials within a wide range of surfaces. 15 of his materials are available for your use; Enrico will take you into the PBR material creation workflow he used to create these resources, and share some tricks he used along the way.

TEXTURING THE WORLD OF THE GLOBALLY ACCLAIMED GAME: GEARS 5
Speakers: Eugene Slautin, Lead Hard Surface Artist, The Coalition; Ben Day, Senior Hard Surface Artist, The Coalition
Gears 5 started its development with a goal to challenge assumptions. In this talk, Eugene and Ben will discuss how this goal affected technical requirements and their material creation workflow. They will detail their art workflow principles, how they dictated proprietary tool creation for their art pipeline, and how the Substance suite was crucial in the production process. They will also share their favourite Substance Painter recommendations, and how these were used on Gears 5 assets.

FROM MEDIUM TO SUBSTANCE: A COMPLETE WORKFLOW FROM VR SCULPTING
TO 3D PAINTING
Speaker: Gio Nakpil, Art Director, Oculus
VR is a revolution in 3D asset creation, and Medium by Adobe is the premier VR creative tool. This session will detail a creative journey, from sculpting in an immersive environment to painting a production-ready asset. Attendees will leave with a thorough understanding of a sculpting and painting workflow with Medium and Substance by Adobe.
The event will run all day in room #3020+3022 at the Moscone Center West Hall.
It’s open to all attendees with an Expo Plus pass and above. There’s no need to register but try to show up early; seats are limited!
This amazing day will end with a fun after-party from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM with the Substance team, the speakers, and the Substance community. Don’t miss it, register now!
